The new clinker silo facility of Schretter & Cie in Vils was officially put into operation with a commissioning ceremony on July 2, 2026.

Since construction began in the summer of 2024, an impressive complex has taken shape here: two clinker silos—each with a capacity of 15,000 tonnes, a diameter of 20 meters, and a total height of 51 meters—complemented by numerous other structures and system components, including the truck loading, the bucket elevator tower, conveying systems, and the mill feed units.

Kottmann Engineering undertook the structural design for the concrete and steel structures, as well as the plant design for the entire facility.

With an investment volume of around 22 million euros, the project represents a significant step for the Vils site—and, for us, another example of how sophisticated planning gives rise to impressive structures.
